Tsingtao Oriental Art Metropolis

Location: Shandong, China

Planning Area: 58.46 ha

Building Area: 983,500 sqm

Client: Changqing Group

This project is situated in the core of the Qingdao New Coastal Area and is a key focus area within the Lingshan Bay Film and Television Cultural Industry Zone, representing a pivotal region for future industrial development on the west coast of Qingdao. With Shandong University of Arts at its core, the surrounding areas, spaces, formats, products, and content are all designed around the concept of artistic living, aiming to establish a novel lifestyle in the new century under evolving technological conditions – a fusion known as "Art Plus" or "ART+," embodying a perpetually connected artistic lifestyle.

Emphasizing three key dimensions: artistic interaction, cultural experience, and aesthetic life, the project seeks to create a cultural learning zone, an art campus, and an aesthetic community with a distinct thematic focus, a broad audience base, and robust industry support. It envisions the Qingdao West Coast International Arts and Humanities Living Demonstration Zone – Oriental Art City. Leveraging the core resources of the university, the project aims to foster a symbiotic relationship between high art and popular art education, seamlessly integrating academic art and commercial art within a framework that serves as a stage for showcasing new forms of art in the context of the new century and advanced technology.
