Nanjing Qinhuai River LA Renovation

This project is adjacent to Nanjing’s Confucius Temple, located in the city’s main cultural and historic district. To address current site issues, the designers approached the project on the principle of minimum impact. A destination point is established in the west by changing the terminal position and adding leisure pavilions which echoes the existing commercial building facades. Incorporating the requirements for flood control height, the projects sets differentiated pedestrian levels with corridor spaces, outdoor leisure spaces and viewing areas. In addition, a thorough analysis of the current vegetation ties the project further to the context and forms a comfortable rhythm. All of the design interventions will have a decisive positive impact on the current riverside area.
