Hail Housing, Saudi Arabia

Location: Hail, Saudi Arabia

Client: Al-Rajhi Real Estate Development Co.

Al -Rajhi Center Housing Project is planned and designed as an integral part of Al-Rajhi center, Hail, KSA, along with religious and commercial buildings. Our approach to the conceptual design of this residential complex is to synthesize three components to create a state of the art architectural design: maximizing the use of the parcel, feasibility and constructability, and sustainability. While the design utilizes the plot to its maximum within guidelines, it resolves challenges of each component into a meaningful and responsive architecture in its dynamic architectural form.

Situated on the west corner of the Center and in a highly visible location, the design transforms buildings with an efficient floor plan into a sharp and elegant cornerstone for the newly developing surrounding community.

The buildings are designed with contemporary modern style with traditional architectural elements in mind. The elegant interplay of solid and void, powerful combination of several types of window and screening elements displays an artful yet easy to build façade. This façade design simultaneously addresses the shading and privacy requirements for residential units. Each apartment block will be built around a private outdoor green courtyard where families and children can recreate in safety and semi-privacy. These linked courtyards provide a continuous flow of cultivated landscape, as well as easy access to Mosque and commercial development nearby.

Responsive to site, context and climate of Hail and KSA, sustainable buildings with stringent bio-climatic architecture principles is targeted. Utmost attention is paid to have the maximum number of residential units as well as car parking spaces to provide high return on investment.

Three building blocks will be built on a one-level underground parking structure. Total number of residential units will be 318 and total construction area will be 124,402 of which 102,479 m2 will be above and 25,213 will be below ground.
