Tieli Children Park

Location: Heilongjiang, China

Site Area: 8.1 ha

Client: Tieli Government

The Tieling Children's Park is situated in the primary urban area of Tieling City, Heilongjiang Province, intersected by the city's main thoroughfare, Wuyi Street, which divides the site into northern and southern sections. The northern sector is designated as a children's park, catering primarily to the younger demographic, while the southern segment is conceived as a civic square tailored to adult use.

The northern Children's Park endeavors to establish a communal space for citizens, acting as a catalyst for fostering diverse and harmonious urban cultures, and serving as a rehearsal stage and playground for the future lives of children. The spatial layout unfolds akin to branching structures, symbolizing Tieling's "Growth Forest." A central shared area and primary garden path form a branching spatial structure, serving as the main arteries and framework of the park. Children's activity spaces are scattered throughout, resembling "fruits" within the "Growth Forest," each adopting a pocket-shaped design to enhance safety during play and facilitate parental supervision.

The southern Civic Square functions as a city living room, providing adults with opportunities to experience and relish a fulfilling life, while also serving as a civic stage to showcase the city's diverse urban culture. Centered around a sunken shared area on the northern side, the square features surrounding amenities such as the "Fragrant Life Pavilion" and the "Wisdom Library." Transitioning from open woods and grasslands to a relatively serene southern expanse, the Anti-Japanese Resistance Memorial Hall is nestled amidst Chinese pine trees, facilitating a fusion and dialogue between history and contemporary life.
