The Tsingtao Mangrove Resort and Conference Hotel, situated along the scenic Lingshan Bay on the west coast of Tsingtao, stands as China's premier seaside getaway destination. Boasting an expansive complex spanning nearly 800,000 square meters, it offers over 4000 rooms across five hotels, accompanied by a myriad of amenities including an entertainment center, convention facilities, art gallery, commercial street, wedding hall, cinema, bookstore, spa town, and charming town. With a focus on creating an immersive natural and cultural experience environment, the design seamlessly integrates various functions while leveraging local cultural characteristics and climatic conditions.
Emphasizing year-round tourism appeal, the design ensures uninterrupted pedestrian access and leisure experiences, even during adverse weather conditions. An underground commercial water street spanning over a kilometer serves as the main axis, connecting multifunctional building clusters and creating a distinct underground circulation system. This layout prioritizes pedestrian flow, offering guests a seamless journey through diverse indoor spaces filled with content and experiences.
The design of the main building highlights the iconic status of the Shell Hotel within the entire architectural complex. Inspired by the graceful contours of shells and waves, the building's concise curved shape creates a striking skyline that harmonizes with the natural surroundings. The undulating vertical lines evoke the rhythmic movement of waves, inviting guests to reconnect with nature. Similarly, the German-style town within the resort pays homage to local architectural traditions, creating a vibrant atmosphere rich in regional characteristics. Anchored by a classical wedding chapel, the coastal area features light and lively architecture reminiscent of northern Germany, complemented by finely detailed pedestrian streets and alleys.
The wedding chapel serves as a central gathering point within the square, hosting various themed events and functions. With its classical Gothic design and white abstract framework, the chapel exudes an elegant and ethereal ambiance, seamlessly blending with the surrounding environment. Its towering form symbolizes aspirations towards perfection, epitomizing the resort's commitment to providing guests with a truly transcendent experience.
